Guendouzi gives eye-opening interview after ‘mass brawl’ in UCL playoff match

The former Arsenal man will not be welcome back in Lyon anytime soon...

As reported by The Telegraph, the midfielder, who played for Arsenal for four years between 2018 and 2022, has been accused of "inciting" the action, after he deliberately celebrated in front of his opponents, who are major rivals of another of Guendouzi's former sides: Olympique Marseille.

After the game Guendouzi could be seen shouting "Allez l'OM" towards a camera in reference to Marseille.

Clips shared on social media appear to show an individual wearing Lyon branded kit confronting Guendouzi, before dozens of others from both sides became involved.

The identity of the individual who confronted Guendouzi has not yet been named in any reports.

Speaking to RMC Sport after the game, the Frenchman said: "When 60,000 people insult your family, your mother, your children even before the match and no one on the referee's side tells the crowd to be quiet.

"If you want to taunt, it taunts both ways. If we can't celebrate the way we want to."

Guendouzi's side Fenerbahçe sealed a 3-2 aggregate victory over Lyon last night, booking a place in the Champions League league phase draw later this afternoon.

It will mark the Turkish outfit's return to the opening round of the Champions League for the first time since the 2008/09 season.
