An incredible achievement

Sean Conway has made history by breaking a world record to become the first man to complete 102 triathlons at Ironman distance back-to-back.

This isn’t the first time Conway has attempted this world record, in 2022 he suffered an injury and was forced to quit. In a true test of team spirit, he has partnered with Optimum Nutrition for the second time to help fuel him on this challenge and unlock his full potential.

The 42-year-old Zimbabwean endurance adventurer, author and motivational speaker completed a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile cycle and 26.22 mile run every day for three months, totalling an extraordinary 14,300 miles in the ultimate test of human endurance.

For his final world record-breaking Ironman distance triathlon, Sean completed his final swim in one hour and 24 minutes, followed by his cycle in six hours and 46 minutes and his marathon-length run at six hours six minutes. He crossed the finish line of his incredible 102nd triathlon with a total time of . If anyone has shown they are capable of unlocking more, it’s Conway.

During an average day Sean would eat two of Optimum Nutrition’s protein bars every day (that’s over 200 during his challenge!), three Serious Mass servings, one Gold Standard Pre-Workout Shot, a serving of Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard Whey at the end of the day and finally, Creatine to support his performance.

After completing the challenge, Conway said: “I can’t begin to explain the emotions I am feeling having completed 102 days of consecutive full distance triathlons. Months of strict and gruelling training has led me to this moment, and I could not be prouder of what I have achieved today.”

He then explained the work he had to put in to complete the challenge. “Keeping my energy levels up and giving my body enough calories and nutrients, not only to perform each day but to keep myself healthy and well enough to complete this world record was no mean feat.

“I was consuming 7,000 – 8,000 calories a day, which is not possible through food alone so I used Optimum Nutrition’s products to supplement my intake and ensure I was fuelling my body correctly. Safe to say I am looking forward to taking some much-needed rest but watch this space for my next adventure!”
