Tomorrow marks the 45 years since one of the most iconic footballers to don an England shirt was born in the appropriately named Whipps Cross hospital. Beckham was the first footballer I idolised, with his outrageous haircuts and jaw-dropping free kicks. It was his performances for England that made me fall in love with the game and want to be a professional footballer. Obviously that hasn't happened, and with it also being my (24th) birthday tomorrow, it's probably never going to.
But still, during this time of going through the vault of football memories from years gone by, let's pour one out for Becks and say cheers to that free-kick against Greece, the penalty against Argentina, and the countless other special moments throughout his illustrious career. Happy birthday, Becks.
