They both died within days

Just days apart and a month after their wedding, a young couple in their 20s passed away.

The couple, Adam Hencek, 23, and his husband Tomas Fueller died both within the same week.

Hencek died last Tuesday while his husband Fueller died on Friday evening, it has been revealed.

According to a funeral director in Clonmel, the men, both from Slovakia and living on Carrick-on-Suir in southern Ireland, died at home.

“So sad. Adam taught me piano briefly, he was a brilliant teacher and a gentleman. My thoughts are with Adam’s family and friends at this awfully sad time, may he rest in peace”, Adam’s former piano student wrote online.

Following the spread of the news of the couple’s deaths, tributes have now started to pour in from the community.

“Very sad to hear this. We met Adam and Tomas last year through work and their energy and love of life was infectious”, another person wrote.

Meanwhile, a third person said: “This is devastating. Two young men, in the prime of their lives, passing so unexpectedly. My sympathy to their family and friends.”

“RIP to this handsome couple Adam & Tomas, so very sad, condolences to both of their grieving families. May they find comfort in the memories of happy times shared together”, another tribute said.

A fundraiser was launched by Adam’s aunt, Mirka Kohutovicova, for her nephew and his husband following the tragedy last week to help with the funeral costs.

“I am fundraising for the joint funeral of my nephew Adam Hencek and his husband Tomas Feuller, who tragically passed away on the 02.06.2026 and 05.06.2026 respectively”, she said.

“We would greatly appreciate any donations to help fund the wake and the cremation of the newlyweds.”

The GoFundMe had reached its target of €12,000 (£10,352) within days.
