Phone battery always dead? This new WiFi invention could be the answer…

JOE

This could be a game-changer.

Most of us would be lost without a Wi-Fi connection providing us with internet access to our phones, laptops and tablets, but one of the unfortunate by-products is the drain it causes on battery life.

That could all be set to change, however, because some very clever computer scientists at the University of Washington have come up with a Wi-Fi system that uses 10,000 times less power than the conventional methods we’re used to at the moment.

The exact science behind the development – called Passive Wi-Fi – is a tad complicated and to understand it, it’s best to watch the video below…

But hey, we don’t need to be experts to enjoy the benefits!

Passive Wi-Fi has already been named as one of the 10 breakthrough technologies of 2016 by MIT Technology Review and could well change the way we view and use Wi-Fi in the future.

And most importantly, it might mean you no longer have to carry your charger around with you all the time.
