Vladimir Putin tops ‘Time’ poll of world’s most influential figures

If ever there was a reason to take your shirt off, mount a horse and go hunting, this was it.

The majority of the list featured people from the entertainment industry. Along with Putin, the only non-entertainers to make the top 10 were Malala Yousafazi, Pope Francis and the Dalai Lama. If you've followed the news lately, you'll know that this isn't the first time President Putin has conquered something: in November, Forbes magazine named him the world's most powerful man for the second year on the bounce. Such is his level of influence, Putin's native Russian has even banned memes - probably including this brilliant one of him riding the #WeaselPecker.
