Not the best customer service

A shocking video shows the moment a United Airlines worker gets into a fight with a customer before getting battered to the ground behind his check-in desk.

The video shot at Newark Airport in New Jersey emerged on social media on Sunday and shows the employee squaring up to a customer in front of the check-in desk as things get heated.

MailOnline reported that the pair began arguing after the passenger used a wheelchair to transport his luggage – seemingly in a move to avoid paying the fee on luggage carts. When the United worker challenged him over it, the pair started fighting.

The employee appears to slap the customer in the face. Some media reports suggest the passenger had struck him first, with several videos appearing online of different length.

The passenger then punches him in the temple, causing the man to stumble backward before he strikes him a second time in the head.

The employee falls back over his desk before coming to rest on the conveyor belt where passengers drop their bags off.

The employee, who is bloodied, then gets up and tries to approach the man again as another employee tries to intervene.

The passenger then taunts him, saying “he wants more”.

Airport staff can be heard shouting “stop” as the chaotic scene played out in the terminal.

United Airlines would not state if the employee had been disciplined over the matter, MailOnline reported.

In a statement, a spokesman told the publication: “United Airlines does not tolerate violence of any kind at our airports or on board our planes and we are working with local authorities to further investigate this matter.”

Video of the fight has been viewed over 11 million times.
