Donald Trump is making an indelible mark on the American psyche.

Thus far many have dismissed the billionaire Republican nominee as a sideshow; an irresistible media circus that will die out in good time for the US elections proper. But he's not going away, and neither are his extreme, ridiculous and worrying opinions. The fear is that his bigoted bandwagon will continue on, with his popularity growing with each hateful slur. The most recent, and perhaps worrying, example of the sort of frenzied mania that Trump's campaign elicits was shared by a Republican supporter this week. It showed her 9-year-old daughter being told that she would be attending a Donald Trump rally and meet the man himself. Most children of the similar age would have reacted with indifference. Not this young girl. She responds with the sort of hysterical excitement and then overawed teary breakdown that you would expect for a trip to Disneyland or a Justin Bieber concert.
