Borat firmly put Kazakhstan on the map.
Well, the central Asian country was already on a map, but Sacha Baron Cohen’s fictional Kazakh reporter just opened our eyes to its wonders.
Yes we know it’s the greatest country in the world and we know it exports top quality potassium.
But one startling fact left out of the classic film Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan was that the tiny state didn’t have a single McDonald’s restaurant.
That is until now… as 2016 will go down in history as the year Kazakhstan got it’s first ever Maccy D’s.

Huge crowds flocked to the nation’s newest fast food joint in the capital city of Astana – including President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
We imagine the queue must have been ridiculous with one McDonald’s to serve the entire nation of 17 million people.
We’re not sure whether they really will be selling horsemeat and mare’s milk like Borat says, but we really want to see the menu.
Kazakhstan now becomes the 120th country on the planet to open a McDonald’s. It’s got a Starbucks too
