Supporters of the United States women’s national team chanted “Fuck Trump” during a Fox News report on the country’s 2-0 win over the Netherlands in the final of the 2019 Women’s World Cup.
Jill Ellis’ side ran out assured winners against the Dutch to secure their fourth World Cup win and mark the first occasion that they have successfully retained the trophy.
Their escapades during this tournament, as well as the outspoken nature of their players, have captured the imagination of both their nation and the wider world.
Sunday’s win over the Dutch was covered worldwide, but it was a report on conservative American news network Fox News that made headlines.
During a report on the network which was taking place in a Lyon bar, supporters of the USWNT quickly noticed which network was broadcasting and deciding to embark on a chant against president Donald Trump.
