The next James Bond has been cast, Gary Oldman says

The next 007 has reportedly already been chosen

While discussing the future of the franchise during an interview with Canada’s 'The Morning Show', the Slow Horses star claimed that Amazon has already decided who the next 007 will be, despite the casting announcement still being kept under wraps. 

Oldman, however, appeared to suggest that the decision has already been made and that fans may not have to wait much longer to find out who it is.

“We’re going to find out pretty soon, aren’t we? Because they have picked him. They have made their choice, but they have not announced it yet. So my fingers are crossed for Jack.”

If Oldman gets his wish, his Slow Horses co-star Jack Lowden will be the man stepping into Bond’s famous shoes.

Lowden has been among the names linked to the role, alongside Callum Turner, Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Harris Dickinson. 

However, Amazon MGM Studios has yet to officially confirm that any of them have been cast, despite reports that auditions for the role were taking place in August.

The next Bond film is set to be directed by Denis Villeneuve, with Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight writing the screenplay, so expectations are already high for the franchise’s next era.

Considering Oldman’s long career and extensive industry connections, though, fans will undoubtedly be wondering whether he knows something the rest of us don’t. 

Multiple outlets have contacted representatives for Amazon MGM Studios for comment, but no response has been received so far.
