De Zerbi is growing frustrated at Brighton

Two Premier League clubs are eyeing up Roberto De Zerbi as reports suggested that the Italian is becoming frustrated at Brighton and Hove Albion.

De Zerbi has been one of the standout managers of the Premier League and has guided Brighton to the Europa League after an impressive campaign last year.

Form however has taken a slight dip this year and last week saw the Seagulls beaten 4-0 by Roma in the first leg of their Europa League play-off tie.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk boss has shown signs of frustration in recent times and has publicly stated that he wanted the club to do more business in the January transfer window.

19-year-old Valentin Barco was the only arrival however the Italian wanted better squad depth to compensate for the departures of names such as Moises Caicedo, Robert Sanchez, and Alexis Mac Allister.

His comments have even sparked some fears that he may depart the Amex Stadium at the end of the season, putting two clubs on red alert.

Two big names are interested

According to The Times, Chelsea and Liverpool are both looking at De Zerbi.

Chelsea of course still have manager Mauricio Pochettino in charge however his position will be reviewed at the end of the season and the likelihood is that he will remain in charge.

There is also a chance that Chelsea could win the FA Cup and finish in the European spots which would almost certainly be enough credit in the bank for the former Spurs and Paris Saint-Germain boss to stay on at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool have the difficult task of replacing Jurgen Klopp in the summer after he confirmed he would be leaving at the end of the 2023/2024 campaign.

Xabi Alonso is ranked highly in the list of candidates to take over but the Reds face competition from Bayern Munich, who want him to replace Thomas Tuchel.

Away from England, Barcelona have also been linked with making a move for the Italian as Xavi’s replacement – another high profile boss leaving his role in the coming months.
