He says he will “defy medical science”

A This Morning star has said that he has “weeks to live” and has “turned down treatment” speaking to The Times in an interview.

Trevor Sorbie is an MBE and known as the ‘hairdresser to the stars’, having styled hair for the likes of Queen and Helen Mirren while cutting hair for Paul McCartney, the Beach Boys and Robbie Williams.

He is a regular guest on This Morning.

The legendary hairdresser said that chemotherapy could give him an extra month, but he did not want to “face any more of that poison.”

When he asked a nurse if he’d make it to Christmas he was told: “We don’t know, Trevor.”

The hair stylist said: “And that annoyed me. I’ve got cancer in my body, but not in here. My brain is my engine and I’ll go when I’m ready.”

Sorbie explained how he was diagnosed with bowel cancer after a sudden incident one night.

He said: “I lost a lot of blood one night and was unusually disturbed so went to hospital. They told me I had bowel cancer and I had a little panic attack. I looked at Carole [his wife] and she looked at me, we were both speechless, didn’t know what to say. So I went and had a big gin and tonic.”

Back in 2009, Sorbie swapped salon work for charity work, My New Hair.

He set up the charity after cutting a wig for his sister-in-law Jackie who was having chemotherapy for cancer.

He subsequently taught thousands of hairdressers to cut wings and communicate with people who are at the end of their lives.

Trevor also paid tribute to his wife Carole who he described as “Florence Nightingale and Mother Teresa rolled into one”.

The hairstylist wants to die at home and does not want a funeral.

He said: “Too upsetting. When the time comes my ashes will be interred with Carole’s and our little dog.”

Sorbie insists he will “defy medical science”

“If the cancer reaches my brain, then I’ll accept it, but until then, I’m in charge, and I’m going on my terms,” he said.
