Sir Andy Murray? Sports fans divided on whether the tennis pro should be knighted

Homenews

There's talk Andy Murray could be knighted after he led Britain to an historic Davis Cup win, the first since 1936.

The tennis ace beat David Goffin in straight sets, sealing victory with a breathtaking lob before collapsing in tears. https://twitter.com/DavisCup/status/670986491028365312 Since Sunday's match, Murray fans have been calling for the Scot to be knighted in the New Year's Honours list. https://twitter.com/Lord_Sugar/status/670982330215997440 https://twitter.com/anthonysimon/status/671040650050215938 Despite being ranked at number two in the world, winning Wimbledon and an Olympic Gold medal, not everyone agrees the 28-year-old is ready for the accolade. https://twitter.com/toryboypierce/status/670987534378401799 https://twitter.com/mrgordonburns/status/670994429893849089 And some believe the reason he hasn't received one yet is due to him declaring his support for a Yes vote during the Scottish independence referendum... https://twitter.com/dtaylor5633/status/631141667991588864 But does Andy think he deserves one? Speaking (rather modestly) after the match he said: "Look, I think everyone deserves one. For all of the team, it’s great to have a Davis Cup next to our name. We’ll all remember this year for the rest of our lives, regardless of what happens in the rest of our careers." https://twitter.com/andy_murray/status/671028873174237184
