Poundland have revealed that they will be closing all of their UK stores on Boxing Day so that staff get to spend more time with their loved ones this Christmas.

The popular shop, which currently have more than 800 stores and employ over 18,000 people in the UK, have confirmed that they will be closing all of their stores on Boxing Day to thank their employees for their hard work.

Poundland is one of Britain’s best known pound stores and will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day this year before reopening as usual on the 27th of December to ensure shoppers can pick up their essentials before New Years Day comes around.

Simon Wells, people director at Poundland, said: “We have brilliant colleagues here at Poundland & Dealz who work incredibly hard throughout the year, bringing our brands to life every day and supporting our customers.

“But we know they all particularly shine at Christmas, bringing the magic to our stores that our customers know and love.

“We’re delighted to be able to support them with a well-earned rest once the festive season is over.”

Furthermore, Poundland have decided to gift each of their employees a £25 voucher to use in store.

The shop has also launched an initiative to employ 1,000 new seasonal staff to cover the busy festive period.

The majority of the shop floor roles will end on Christmas Eve while some will be extended until early January.
