Scotland Yard have formally identified the individual responsible for the vicious attack in Westminster on Wednesday as a 52-year-old man by the name of Khalid Masood.
Police believe that Masood was born in Kent but was most recently living in the West Midlands. He was not the subject of any current investigations, and there was no prior intelligence about his intent to commit a terrorist attack.
However, he was known to the police and had a range of previous convictions for assault including GBH, possession of offensive weapons, and a number of public order offences.
The first conviction he had was in November 1983 for criminal damage, and his most recent conviction was in December 2003 for possession of a knife. He has been not convicted of any previous terrorist offences.
Anyone with any information about Masood can call the Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321
