Piers Morgan in spectacular self-own as he tweets graphic cartoon depicting him and Donald Trump

By constantly tweeting about the cartoon, Piers has managed to spread the cartoon to a far larger audience than it would have reached otherwise

It’s hard not to laugh.

Professional provocateur Piers Morgan loves a Twitter storm. Never afraid to express his opinion, or whatever point of view will keep him the centre of attention, he took to Twitter on Friday to draw attention to this cartoon depicting him… how to put this… licking Donald Trump’s arse.

Morgan has painted himself as the victim of this situation, using a hypothetical situation to direct hypothetical outrage at the BBC for broadcasting the image. Straight out of the Piers Morgan textbook: creating a false equivalence to rewrite the narrative.

By constantly tweeting about the cartoon, Piers has managed to spread the cartoon to a far larger audience than it would have reached otherwise.

While the humour of the joke behind the cartoon is questionable, it’s hard to believe Piers would be as outraged if the cartoon didn’t depict him.

It should be pointed out that when Piers refers to the picture being shown on the BBC, it was part of a comedy routine on The Mash Report. It wasn’t broadcast on the news. The difference is important to note, as Piers accuses the BBC of hypocrisy.

The host, Nish Kumar, had a frank response to Morgan’s complaints on Twitter.

It was only a matter of time before the Twittersphere began to meme the hell out of the cartoon. We’re off to a great start.
