Chelsea were beaten by Arsenal on Tuesday night

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang responded to an Arsenal fan who offered him support on Instagram.

Aubameyang started for Chelsea in their 3-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night and was booed by the home support before being taken off at half time after only touching the ball nine times, four of those from kick offs.

The Gabon international has struggled since leaving the Gunners in 2021 and has failed to live up to expectations since returning to the Premier League from Barcelona last summer.

With his last 18 months proving to be more of a challenge, one Arsenal fan reached out to the forward on Instagram to offer his sympathy and support.

A post, which was captioned: “No matter what I’ll always love you Auba,” was followed up by a written post which said: “Honestly feel so bad for him.

“Always positive, almost lost his mother, caught malaria, toxic end at Arsenal, went to Barca and got his house robbed, now gone to Chelsea and not playing at all.

“Was made fun of at Stamford Bridge by our players and now booed by fans that he loved.”

Clearly feeling emotional after reading the comment the 33-year-old replied: “You know sometimes people forget what’s the real life and forget about how you can’t control what’s happened.”

Since returning to England, Aubameyang has only scored three times while his appearance against his former club was just his fifth start of the season.

He is widely expected to leave in the summer with moves to the MLS and Middle East rumoured to be on the cards.
