Paul O'Grady's last ever TV project will air this autumn

The series was filmed in Thailand last year

Paul O’Grady’s final television project will air this autumn following his death earlier this year.

In March, the world of British entertainment was left in shock by O’Grady’s sudden passing at the age of 67 from sudden cardiac arrhythmia.

An icon of British entertainment, comedy and drag, O’Grady first rose to fame for his drag queen persona Lily Savage and hosted a number of game shows including Blankety Blank.

He also hosted his own talk show – The Paul O’Grady Show – on Channel 4 and was fondly known for his love of animals, in particular dogs.

Before his death, he had filmed the latest series of his much-loved show ‘For the Love of Dogs’, which aired earlier this year. The first episode paid tribute to O’Grady by rolling silent credits.

The entertainment legend also made a posthumous television appearance as part of the BBC’s Eurovision coverage earlier this year.

And this autumn, fans will be able to watch his final TV project, which he filmed last year.

‘Paul O’Grady’s Great Elephant Adventure’ sees him travel to Thailand to visit sanctuaries in the country that rescue elephants, the Radio Times reports.

The two-part series will also highlight the challenges faced by elephants in Thailand. Viewers will also see O’Grady immerse himself in the local life and culture, visiting markets and temples.

The series will air on ITV, with the broadcaster saying in their autumn preview: “Filmed late last year before his sudden and unexpected death, this was Paul’s final project and one that he was incredibly passionate about.”

They added: “Each episode highlights a particular challenge faced by elephants in the region and – as ever – Paul’s love for animals shines throughout the series. The tone is warm, playful and heartfelt and always characterised by his much-loved wit and humour.”
