Paul Gascoigne rushed to hospital after injury on Italian I’m A Celeb

The former England football star dislocated his shoulder during the programme

Paul Gascoigne has been rushed to hospital after suffering an injury to his shoulder whilst taking part in the Italian version of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. The 53-year-old can be seen holding his arm in pain after completing an assault course on the show, called Island Of The Famous.

The host of the show, Massimiliano Rosolino, was heard saying “What’s happened to Paul, he looks in trouble,” before a fellow contestant helped Gazza to the medical team. Rosolino later told viewers: “Paul is with the medics but the initial view is that he is not seriously hurt.”

Gascoigne has been a contestant on the show, which takes place in Honduras, for the past couple of weeks and, unsurprisingly, he has already made quite the name for himself.

Perhaps his highlight so far has been the revelation that he has a tattoo of a flower on a certain part of his body, because ‘it turns into a tree.” I’ll leave your imagination to fill in the blanks there.

Gascoigne spent three years at Rome club Lazio during his career, so does have a basic understanding of the language, but that thick Geordie accent remains, meaning that there have been some comical moments when he has attempted the language.

Whether the England great returns to the series remains to be seen, but here’s hoping he does. It’s always great to see Gazza having a laugh and enjoying himself, with his previous struggles with drink and drugs well-publicised throughout his life. It certainly seems that he’s loving the experience on the island, and safe to say he’s still the same Gazza that the country has come to know and love.
