Paris attacks: Man that escaped Bataclan also fled World Trade Center on 9/11

An American man shot in the leg in the recent terrorist attacks in Paris has revealed that he was also in New York when planes were flown into the World Trade Center’s twin towers.

The man, named as Matthew by a report in the Telegraph, was attending the Eagles of Death Metal concert at the Bataclan Theatre when gunmen burst in and started to fire shots into the crowd.

Although he was shot in the leg, Matthew managed to escape from the concert hall where 89 people were killed by the terrorists.

This wasn’t the first brush with a terrorist strike for Matthew. On September 11, 2001, he was at the foot of the World Trade Center when a plane crashed into one of the twin towers.

Comparing the two incidents, Matthew explains that his experiences of the attack on the French capital were much worse than what happened to him on 9/11.

“I sprinted across half of Manhattan,” he explained. “But what I went through in the Bataclan was 1,000 times worse.”

Having managed to crawl out of the Bataclan, Matthew collapsed outside. He was aided by Daniel Psenny, a journalist for Le Monde.
