Over 1,000 members of the public to be invited to the Royal Wedding

Might be worth keeping May 19 free...

There’s a Royal Wedding this year. You might have heard.

Prince Harry is to tie the knot with Meghan Markle on May 19, with some of the most famous faces on the face of the planet expected to be in attendance.

It’s now been announced that members of the public are also set to be invited along to the couple’s special day. Sort of.

It was announced by Kensington Palace on Friday that up to 1,200 members of the public ‘from all corners of the UK’ will be invited to the grounds of Windsor Castle for the wedding. The couple have requested these people – to be selected by Lord Lieutenants – ‘include young people who have shown strong leadership and those who have served their communities’.

From there, they will be able to watch the arrival and departure of Harry and Meghan. Not exactly a seat at a table for the wedding breakfast but still, not a bad place to be on such a special occasion.

All in all, 2,640 people are to be given access to the grounds of the castle on the day of the wedding. It’s also been announced that charity workers, school children, royal household members and Windsor residents are amongst those to be invited.
