Cashman is due to appear in court again later today
The man charged with the murder of Olivia Pratt-Korbel has been pictured for the first time after appearing in court on Monday.
Thomas Cashman is alleged to have shot dead the nine-year-old after convicted burglar Joseph Nee was chased by a gunman into her home in Didcot, Liverpool, on August 22.
Cashman, 34, is also charged with the attempted murder of Olivia’s mother, Cheryl Korbel.
The 46-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the hand during the incident.
Nee, 35, allegedly suffered multiple gun shot wounds. He was taken to hospital by friends, while Olivia lay dying in her mum’s arms. Nee had been freed from prison on licence last year and has subsequently been sent back.
According to reports, Cheryl and Olivia’s dad, John, watched proceedings at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Monday after being escorted in by police.
Cashman is further charged with two counts of possessing a firearm to endanger life.
He appeared in court alongside a second defendant, Paul Russell, also of West Derby, who faces a single count of assisting an offender.
Russell, 40, is accused of driving for Cashman.
Cashman was arrested on September 29 and Russell, a day later.
Russell appeared first and spoke only to confirm his name and address. He made no application for bail.
He was not asked to enter a plea as the case can only be heard in the crown court. He will appear at Liverpool Crown Court on October 31.
Cashman also only spoke to confirm his name and address. He is now due to appear at Liverpool Crown Court at 2pm where he will be considered for bail.
Police have made 11 arrests over Olivia’s, with nine men previously detained as part of the wide-scale investigation, all of whom were later bailed.
