‘She started vaping in the August, and she was dead in the February’
A mum who claims to have lost her 18-year-old daughter to vaping has warned young people against picking up the habit.
Rachel Howe, from the Wirral, Merseyside, is convinced that her daughter, Rosey Christoffersen, died as a result of her vaping habit back in Feb 2015.
Rachel told Sky News: “She was supposed to call me at 5.30pm but she didn’t call. I rang her phone and one of the ambulance crew answered and said we’re with your daughter, we’re working on her. She’s come out of work and collapsed.”
The 18-year-old had been vaping heavily for six months before her death and after both of her lungs collapsed she had a heart attack.
Rachel claims that her daughter’s lungs were a “mass of holes and blisters called blebs”.
She added: “To be honest, there was just a lot of stunned silence at the hospital.”
Sadly, Rosey had been to the doctors numerous times in the lead up to her death complaining of chest pain but this was dismissed as a pulled muscle.
Her mum added: “She constantly had it in her mouth. And I kept saying to her, you know, you wouldn’t smoke that much… why are you vaping that much?
“She started vaping in the August, and she was dead in the February.”
Although vaping hasn’t been officially linked with Rosey’s her death, her mum remains adamant that it was a major factor.
