The Metropolitan Police Service can confirm that a dozen arrests have been made following Saturday night’s horrific attack in London.

Seven people were killed and a further 48 injured in the London Bridge/Borough Market area of the nation’s capital in the third terror attack on Britain in less than three months.

Shortly after 10pm on Saturday, a van drove into a group of pedestrians on London Bridge before three men exited the vehicle and began indiscriminately stabbing innocent victims on the streets and in nearby bars and restaurants.

Armed officers arrived on the scene within minutes and all three attackers were shot dead.

Sunday morning saw a considerable police presence arrive at a residence in Barking, East London.

And Met Police can now confirm that they have “arrested 12 people in Barking, east London, in connection with last night’s incidents in London Bridge and the Borough Market area.”

A statement explains that searches are ongoing in the Barking area while suggestions from Sky News are that one of the residences belonged to one of the attackers in question.

An emergency number has been put in place for anyone who is concerned for loved ones who may not have returned home on Saturday night while anybody with images or film of the incident, who may be able to assist in the investigation, are urged to upload it at www.ukpoliceimageappeal.co.uk.
