McDonald's have launched their first ever meal deal and it only costs £5.
The new offer which is available from today is set to rival the supermarket meal deal which has become such a staple of British lunchtime culture.
This said, the popular fast food chain has taken direct aim at these very meal-deal-monopoly-holding supermarkets, aiming to end 'bland meal deals'.
McDonald's said: "Tired of a ham sandwich, ready salted crisps and a water? Meal Deals just got a whole lot tastier as McDonald’s UK announces the launch of its first ever £5 Meal Deal across all participating restaurants from Wednesday 9th October."
What is in the meal deal you may ask? Well prepare to be enlightened.
Diners can pick from either a Cheeseburger or Mayo Chicken with medium fries and a medium soft drink.
However, where this deal for your meal really comes into its own is the four Chicken McNuggets that will come along with it.
All this for a fiver means a total saving of £2.50 with the normal cost of the items adding up to £7.46 outside of the deal.
The chain added: "No matter if you’re a beef lover or a chicken connoisseur, you’ll be able to choose either a Cheeseburger or Mayo Chicken as your burger option. With four Chicken McNuggets not available to buy separately on the regular menu, this offer is more than just value for money – it’s truly unique."
In an important sidenote, customers can buy the McDonald's meal deal from 11am and it is not available for delivery orders.
The meal deal is available in participating restaurants and could be subject to availability depending on demand.
While supermarkets have been trying to spruce up their meal deals in recent years, notably alongside their rising prices, McDonald's may have just won lunchtime with this new offer.
