Martin Lewis in despair as Edwina Currie gives energy advice sat next to Boris Johnson cut out

She appealed to viewers to stop catastrophising the cost-of-living crisis

Martin Lewis had to bury his head in his hands as former Tory MP Edwina Currie dished out energy advice on Good Morning Britain today.

The money-saving expert put the ex-I’m A Celebrity contestant to task after she urged people to stop catastrophising the cost-of-living crisis.

Sat in front of a life-size cardboard cut-out of Boris Johnson, Currie said people should get used to the idea of putting on an extra jumper this winter as families face a gruelling spike in energy bills.

She also held up some foil-lined insulating that you can put behind your radiator, much to the bemusement of other guests on the show, who were quick to point out that prices are set to rise by 250 per cent, not 2 per cent.

Martin Lewis’s reaction says it all on the show, and several people have reacted in a similar vein on social media.

One person wrote: “We all grew up in houses without central heating…” what an entirely useless statement.

“Like saying well we used to deliver mail by horse, lived through the bubonic plague, used candles instead of electricity.”

While another said: “This is so bonkers. We have this in our house. It won’t touch the bills coming in. Is she mad?”
