Manchester's largest Christmas Market has been evacuated by police following a security scare.

Police evacuated Albert Square, in front of the city's town hall, after receiving a 999 call at 4.50am regarding safety at the Christmas Markets. It was claimed a suspicious package had been found at the scene which had to be investigated to make there was no threat to the public. According to The Sun, a 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of malicious communication.
