Manchester United have been voted as the biggest club in the north of England.

Premier League fans were able to give their views in the Sky Bet Hope Fan survey and following a vote from fans of all 20 top flight clubs, it was determined that Erik ten Hag’s side take top spot.

42 per cent of the vote went in favour of the Red Devils despite trophies becoming a less frequent occurrence in the past decade but with the biggest stadium and global fanbase, it was hard to look past them.

Manchester City came in second place with 26 per cent of the vote following their recent spell of dominance which saw them win a historic Treble last season.

Liverpool then occupy third place despite being the country’s most successful clubs with 68 trophies, including six Champions League titles. Anfield was also recently voted as the best atmosphere in the Premier League.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are in fourth spot having amassed 10 per cent of the vote while Leeds United make up the top five, despite relegation to the Championship.

Leeds even beat long-time servers of the Premier League Everton, who received a measly one per cent of the vote.

The Premier League gets underway on Friday August 11 as Vincent Kompany’s Burnley host champions Manchester City at Turf Moor.
