A man has died as a result of "self-inflicted wounds" in a shocking incident at a London tube station.
It is believed that the man stabbed himself at Sloane Square Underground station on Wednesday morning.
In a statement, British Transport Police said : "Officers were called to Sloane Square Underground station at 10.26am on 28 June following reports that a man had sustained serious, self-inflicted injuries.
"Paramedics also attended however despite their best efforts the man has been pronounced dead at the scene."
A witness tweeted: "People have been running out in a panic of Sloane Square station. A lady has screamed 'RUN! RUN! RUN!'
"My partner got anxious and sought refuge at the nearby shops. Now she is afraid of using the tube on her way home later."
Another said: "Not sure what’s going on at Sloane Square but the station is closed, there’s about six police vehicles and some ambulances."
Local MP Greg Hands said he was "shocked and saddened" by news of the stabbing, LBC reports.
