This takes being ID-ed in Tesco to the next level

A man has gone viral after claiming he couldn’t get a job because he looks too young – despite the fact that he says he is 27-years-old.

Mao Sheng, from Guangdong in China, said employers don’t believe he is really in his twenties, meaning he really struggles to find work.

According to reports, Sheng said his father had a stroke and was unable to work and when his mum remarried, he had to start providing for the family instead.

While most would kill for youthful looks or get a buzz from being ID-ed from time to time, Sheng said: “For me it’s a disadvantage. My appearance prevents me from having a job to support my family.”

Videos of Sheng opening up about his struggles have since gone viral, with many sharing their sympathy for the 27-year-old.

“I hope he finds a job, this agency doesn’t want to hack his salary,” one person commented on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.

“Please don’t laugh at him,” another wrote, “at least he is willing to make money down-to-earth and make clean money without causing chaos to the society.”

One clip includes Sheng trying to prove he was born in 1995 by showing his ID – though some have shared doubts about whether it’s actually legit.

“The ID card is wrong, the voice and appearance are nothing like 27 people,” one commented on Douyin.

Thankfully, in what can only feel like a miracle for Sheng, his viral fame seemed to do the trick and after being contacted by multiple employers, he has now managed to bag himself a job.

He said the next step is finding himself a girlfriend and getting married.
