Major update issued on King Charles’ cancer treatment

Charlie Herbert

The monarch has been undergoing treatment throughout 2024

King Charles’ cancer treatment is set to continue into 2025 but is “moving in a positive direction”, according to reports.

Palace sources told Sky News that the king’s treatment “has been moving in a positive direction and as a managed condition the treatment cycle will continue into next year”.

They added that there is a “sense of optimism” about Charles’ condition, evident in his desire to keep up with his busy festive schedule of public engagements.

In February this year, Buckingham Palace announced the king had been diagnosed with cancer and was beginning treatment for the illness.

Although King Charles was keen to make his diagnosis public, it has not been revealed what type of cancer he is being treated for. This decision was taken by him so that awareness wasn’t raised for just one form of cancer, and instead all forms of the illness were spoken about.

It has also not been confirmed exactly what sort of treatment he has undergone this year.

However, he has regularly been in London for private appointments, according to Sky News.

King Charles and Queen Camilla will carry out their final big public engagement before Christmas when they meet local community volunteers, young people, emergency services, and faith representatives in Waltham Forest later on today (20 December).
