Olympic boxer Lin Yu-ting, who failed a gender test, has won her boxing bout with Sitora Turdibekova.
The boxer from Chinese Taipei was disqualified last year by the International Boxing Association (IBA) after failing a gender test in March 2023.
Yu-ting took the victory winning all three rounds unanimously with only one judge scoring against her.
No embrace between the two boxers followed after the fight finished and Yu-ting will fight again on Sunday at 10am.
Before Lin Yu-ting's featherweight bout today with Sitora Turdibekova, controversy had surrounded already surrounded her after the boxer failed a gender test in March 2023 due to an alleged abnormality.
She was subsequently stripped of a women's world championship bronze medal she had won in New Delhi by the International Boxing Association (IBA).
Last year the International Olympic Committee (IOC) stripped the IBA of its recognition as the sport's world governing body over governance and finance issues which led to the IOC opting to run the boxing competition in Paris itself.
Yu-ting is a successful boxer being a double-world champion from 2018 and 2022 in the bantamweight and featherweight categories.
As far as open knowledge goes, Yu-ting does not identify as transgender or intersex and was born a female.
Yesterday began the controversy around the event when Italian boxer Angela Carini abandoned her fight with Algerian boxer Imane Khelif after only 46 seconds, stating that the fight was unfair.
The claim stems from Khelif also failing the same gender tests as Lin who have both faced questions over the gender.
In the same way as Yu-ting, Khelif does not identify as transgender or intersex and was also born a female.
However, according to reports the IBA claimed Khelif's DNA tests had revealed XY chromosomes.
The IBA deem that such findings are grounds for disqualification, although the IOC say that because their passports says their are female, they can compete as such.
Yu-ting has five career losses while Khelif's best result is a silver in the world championships and has nine losses.
