Kevin Spacey granted unconditional bail after appearing in UK court on sex assault charges

He faces four charges of sexual assault

Kevin Spacey has been granted unconditional bail after he appeared at his first court appearance on accusations of sexually assaulting three men. The actor arrived at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday morning, surrounded by his legal team and two police officers. Wearing a blue suit and appearing to smile, he was ushered into the court in London. Once inside the courtroom, the House of Cards actor stood to give his name, date of birth and address before Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram. The allegations relate to three men, now in their 30s and 40s, in London and Gloucestershire between 2005 and 2013, while Spacey was artistic director of the Old Vic theatre in London. The charges follow a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation." Spacey could only be formally charged once he travelled back to the UK. In a statement released to Good Morning America after the CPS announcement, he said: “While I am disappointed with their decision to move forward, I will voluntarily appear in the UK as soon as can be arranged and defend myself against these charges, which I am confident will prove my innocence.” Related links:
