‘The Premier League is a better place with Jamie Vardy in it’
Jamie Vardy brutally mocked Tottenham fans after scoring against them, with football fans hailing the return of the ‘legendary s***house’ to the Premier League.
On Monday evening, Leicester hosted Spurs in the final game of the opening round of the 2024/25 Premier League season.
Although Spurs dominated the first half and took a 1-0 lead into half-time thanks to Pedro Porro’s opener, Leicester equalised just over 10 minutes into the second half through Vardy.
The 37-year-old scored his 137th Premier League goal to bring the Foxes level, and they held on to an impressive point on their first game back in the competition after promotion last season.
But it was Vardy’s antics as he was subbed off in the 79th minute that really got people talking once again about the Leicester man’s famous s***housery.
As Vardy walked off the pitch, he turned to the travelling away fans, pointed at the Premier League badge on his shirt and held up one finger. He then pointed at the Spurs fans and gestured a zero, a clear reference to the fact Leicester have one Premier League title to their name, whilst the North London club have none.
The striker wasn’t done there either, as he became involved in an exchange with Tottenham defender Cristian Romero, who didn’t find the gesture particularly.
It doesn’t take an expert lip reader to work out exactly what Vardy shouted towards the Argentinian as he made his way from the pitch.
Reacting on social media, fans hailed Vardy’s return to the Premier League, with many in agreement that the competition is a better place for his “pantomime villain” antics.
One person wrote: “Sport needs pantomime villains, Jamie Vardy is the most willing player of that role the Premier League has known for me.”
Another said: “Jamie Vardy swigging from a can of Red Bull as he walks out for the second half, scoring an improbable equaliser with his first chance, goading Tottenham’s fans for having never won the Premier League and loudly telling Cristian Romero to ‘f*** off” as he goes off.”
A third commented that the “Premier League is a better place with him in it.”
Someone else said Vardy is “the s***house that the Premier League needs,” whilst another labelled him a “legendary s***house.”
After the game, the striker addressed his gesture to the Spurs fans, saying: “You take a bit of stick during the game. As long as they can take it when I give it back then it’s all good.”
Never change Jamie, never change.
