Donald Trump ‘will not block Tate brothers being extradited to UK’

The pair were arrested on 38 new charges over the weekend.

The Telegraph reports that the White House will not intervene in the case or make any attempt to stop the brothers being returned to the UK to face trial over allegations of rape and human trafficking.

Andrew and his brother Tristan were detained by US police over the weekend on 38 new charges against them, taking their combined total of charges to 59.

What have Andrew Tate and his brother been charged with?

 Bedfordshire Police confirmed that the charges authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) came from their investigation into the Tate brothers, dating back some 16 years.

As per the Bedfordshire Police – whose jurisdiction includes Andrew Tate’s hometown of Luton – the 39-year-old is facing 42 charges in total – 19 of which are for ‘offences relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography’, adding a sinister and sickening new dynamic to their rap sheet.

His brother Tristan, meanwhile, is charged with 17 offences. Both of them stand accused of assault and sexual exploitation. Bedfordshire Police issued a statement in the early hours of Sunday morning, clarifying the case presented by the CPS before executing their arrest warrant:

“Andrew Tate, 39, is being charged with seven further counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and 19 additional charges for offences relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.”

“Tristan Tate, 38, is being charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.The offending is alleged to have taken place between July 2010 and August 2017.”

Both Andrew and Tristan deny any wrongdoing.

What have the Trump administration said?

The Tate brothers sit squarely in the MAGA wheelhouse, with Andrew Tate having previously claimed to be “very close with the Trump family” and both brothers followed by vice-president JD Vance on X.

Their arrest on Saturday was met with calls from some Republican figures for Donald Trump to intervene, and the brothers’ lawyer, Joe McBride, has claimed the pair are victims of a “politically motivated witch hunt.”

However, the White House has reportedly confirmed it will stay out of legal proceedings and efforts to extradite the Tate brothers to Britain.

The Telegraph has said a US official told the paper: “The White House has no involvement and no feelings on the issue.”

McBride has said he estimates it will take “around 60 days” for extradition proceedings to conclude.

However, any appeal could delay the process.
