The body of Daniel Siad was found in his house in Colombes, a Paris suburb, the Nanterre prosecutor's office confirmed to the BBC.

A cause of death has not yet been released with an autopsy set to be performed.

The office said that "an investigation to determine the cause of death was opened on Monday evening following the discovery."

Siad's name was mentioned thousands of times in the Epstein files, although he previously denied any knowledge of convicted sex offender Epstein's wrongdoing.

One of Epstein's victims who goes by the pseudonym Anya, had previously said to the BBC that she was introduced to Epstein by Siad.

She told the BBC that "it was a complete set-up" and claimed Siad was "essentially a professional trafficker".

In one e-mail seen previously in the Epstein files, Siad wrote: "In This busyness [sic] I feel like fisherman some time I cache [sic] quick, some time no fish".

Only a few days ago, the BBC published an investigation on the subject.

Siad's lawyer said that he was not available for comment.

Speaking recently to CNN, Siad claimed to be unaware that Epstein was abusing the women.

He said: "I trusted him, I believed this guy is a professional person."

Siad has also faced several complaints in France, including rape allegations.

The first of these was filed in February.

He has denied wrongdoing in multiple recent interviews.

As per a former model involved in the investigation told the BBC that the death of Siad meant "an important link in the chain has just vanished into thin air" and added that information he could have had is now lost.

They added: "Too much time has been lost... and it is yet another way for the leads to go cold. I hope we won't have to wait another seven years to see his home searched, even though I think it is already too late."

Anne-Claire Le Jeune, a representative of the six women who had made complaints against Siad, said victims have been deprived of justice.

In 2022, French modelling agent Jean-Luc Brunel, another Epstein associate, was found hanged in his Paris prison cell.

Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail cell in 2019.
