Hold onto your socks – or Vans

People are only just finding out the hidden meaning behind the Vans logo and it’s leaving their minds blown.

Graphic designers are pretty smart, it’s their job after all, and some of the biggest companies in the world have iconic logos with fairly clever meanings behind them.

Some of the classics include the arrow in the FedEx logo, the bear on the Toblerone mountain representing the city of Bern or the arrow pointing from A to Z on the Amazon logo.

While most people know what the Vans logo looks like, the word ‘VANS’ with a line stretching from the top of the V across the rest of the letter.

However, not many know the secret meaning behind the iconic logo which is probably thanks to its unassuming style.

Now, thanks to some observant social media users, some think they might have it cracked.

The first detail spotted was how the ‘V’ with its line resembles the square root symbol, which is also known as a ‘radical’, a term often associated with skating, the sport the brand is built around.

In fact the term ‘rad’ is – what a shock – the shortened version of the word radical.

To compound things further ‘ANS’ is the symbol used on a calculator for the answer button.

Meanwhile, social media users have been expressing their shock over the new revelation.

One person wrote: “The fact that the Vans logo is actually a math equation which is the square root of ANS and the answer is 420 still blows my mind.”

Another commenter said: “Someone told me that the vans logo looks like a maths equation & now that’s all I see.”

Meanwhile one person simply put: “This is radical.”
