Family find live frog in bag of 'triple washed spinach'

‘Thank God I didn’t eat the frog!’

A family got quite the shock when they noticed a live frog in a pack of spinach that had apparently been ‘triple washed.’

Amber Worrick, from Michigan, was packing away her shopping when her daughter let out a scream aftering noticing something in a sealed box of Earthbound Farm Organic Spinach..

The mum told Fox 2: “My daughter was screaming, she was like ‘Oh my God, it’s a frog.’

“And I was like, ‘What?'”

The little amphibian stowaway was “alive and moving,” with Worrick adding: “Just thank God I didn’t eat the frog!”

Worrick returned the packet to the supermarket and was offered a full refund.

Meanwhile the frog, which was identified as a Pacific tree frog native to California, was “alive and well” after its spinach ordeal and was “relocated outside a new home by its team members.”

Worrick’s main takeaway from the whole thing was whether she could believe the packaging which claimed the spinach had been “triple washed.”

“On the package, it says three times washed, or something like triple washed,” she said. “I don’t believe that it was washed or else they would have caught a whole live frog.”

In a statement, Taylor Farms, the parent company of the spinach manufacturer, apologised and promised to make sure such an incident never happens again.

It’s not just in the US that this sort of thing happens though. Here in the UK, a grandad found a snake in his broccoli after purchasing the greens from Aldi.
