Facebook’s bold plan to deliver internet from space

Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, is planning to launch a satellite which will provide internet services to remote parts of Africa.

Zuckerberg posted on Facebook, explaining that he hoped the plan would connect millions to the internet through the satellite, which is scheduled for launch for next year.

According to Sky news, this ambitious plan would allow mobile users to download an app containing free data access to selected services, including Facebook.

Before settling on the satellite idea, the project had also considered using other methods of delivery – including solar-powered drones.

Although there’s clearly plenty of work still to be done for Zuckerberg and his team, we look forward to seeing how this project unfolds.
