Summer might be clinging on
The UK could be set to bask in temperatures approaching 30C in just a few days, according to some forecasters.
After this summer was confirmed to be the coolest since 2015, many of you might feeling like we barely had one.
The prospect of some September heat will be welcome news then.
Birmingham Live reports that Ventrusky weather maps predict Brits can hope for some hot temperatures on Saturday, September 7.
The highest temperatures, which Ventrusky reckons could touch 30C, will be expected in the south of England, around London, East Anglia and Hampshire.
Meanwhile, Exacta Weather also reckon September could see record heat.
James Madden from Exacta Weather said: “Our current forecast projections and those of other third parties (computer models) are consistently showing some hot to extreme temperature developments during the next week and throughout early September (mid to high 30s possible at the peak).”
However, the Met Office aren’t quite as confident about temperatures reaching the heigh of the thirties.
Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Nick Silkstone, said: “The forecast for the UK past the middle of the week is still uncertain, with a complex jet stream interaction taking place, and this determining the relative position of areas of high and low pressure relative to the UK.
“It is most probable high pressure will sit to the north of the UK, with lower pressure to the south allowing cloudier conditions, outbreaks of rain and the potential for further thunderstorms in the south, while further north more settled and brighter conditions are most probable.”
He continued: “Less likely scenarios include the high pressure building more widely across the UK which would lead to more settled conditions and sunny spells, and there are other outcomes that lie between the two illustrated here.
“This complex jet stream interaction which drives these potential different directions the UK weather could take, will mostly conclude by late Tuesday, which will lead to us being able to identify the winning scenario by that point.”
