It was going pretty ducking fast
A mallard duck has been caught on a speed camera in central Switzerland doing almost double the speed limit according to local police.
The incident happened in the town of Koniz near the Swiss city of Bern where the speedy bird was flashed doing a speed of 52km/h (32mph) in a of 30km/h (18.6mph) zone.
Local police said that they fowl crime was committed on 13 April and the quackers thing is, this isn’t a one off event.
Back in 2018 a similar image of a duck doing the same speed in the same place was snapped and released by police.
With both ducks looking fairly similar, no surprise there, police believe the animal could be a repeat offender.
Speed cameras are checked each year by authorities meaning sometimes the quirkier things make appearances.
Police did consider whether the image may have been manipulated, but according to local paper Berner Zeitung, it was confirmed by authorities that this out of the question.
Even the local commune got involved in the humourous incident, suggesting that the duck might be indeed be a known repeat offender.
Reacting to the news on the Instagram account of the national Swiss broadcaster RTS, people poked fun at the green-collar crime.
One person wrote: “It was speeding up because the traffic light changed to orange.”
Another person joked: “License suspended at least I hope.”
Meanwhile someone else commented: “I imagine that the number plate wasn’t visible…”
