So many questions to be asked…

US President Donald Trump has announced on Twitter that he intends to release “long blocked and classified” files on the assassination of former US President John F. Kennedy.

President Trump tweeted: “Subject to the receipt of further information, I will be allowing, as President, the long blocked and classified JFK FILES to be opened.”

According to The Washington Post, Trump’s announcement was made against the advice of the National Security Council.

The files are to be released on October 26 and before this, it had been reported that Trump would not allow them to be made public.

Kennedy was killed in 1963 and his alleged assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, was shot dead by gunman Jack Ruby before he could be tried.

During the election campaign, Trump made reference to a conspiracy theory involving involving Ted Cruz’s father, alleging that Rafael Cruz was connected to JFK’s assassin and that he had spent some time with Oswald before the assassination took place.

Talking about Cruz’s father, Trump said: “What is this, right prior to his being shot, and nobody even brings it up. They don’t even talk about that. That was reported and nobody talks about it.

“I mean what was he doing, what was he doing with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the death? Before the shooting? It’s horrible.”

Cruz claimed that the accusation was false and garbage.

According to Politico, a previously released bare-bones index showed that there was nearly 3,100 worth of never-before-seen assassination-related documents.

The majority were created in the 1960s and 1970s and many appear to be declassified.
