It comes as the last episode saw a dip in viewers.

Ncuti Gatwa is rumoured to have been axed from Doctor Who.

Fans have been speculating that he may not return as the Time Lord as he could have his eyes on roles in Hollywood.

The Independent has reported that the iconic series may be put on hiatus until 2027 as the BBC's multi-million pound deal with Disney+ hangs in the balance.

The streaming giant has shown Gatwa's Doctor Who to international audiences.

Rumours over The Sex Education star's future with the BBC had been circulating after he withdrew from presenting the UK's Eurovision jury scores on Saturday.

His decision was due to Israel's particpation at the competition as the Scottish actor has been very vocal in his support of Palestine.

Gatwa became the 15th Doctor when he debuted on the programme in December of 2023, taking over from David Tennant, who reprised the role for the Christmas special.

He returned in April for the second season, which concludes on May 31 with a two-part finale featuring the episodes: 'Wish World' and 'The Reality War'.

The previous episode of Gatwa's Doctor Who was watched by 2.5 million viewers, according to the Daily Mail; however this is 2 million less than when Jodie Whittaker starred in the titular role in 2022.

Speaking on whether or not Gatwa will return for a third season, a BBC spokesperson said: "As we have previously stated, the decision on season 3 will be made after season 2 airs."
