Chilling weather maps have been released detailing the exact date '90 hours of snow' is expected to hit the UK, powdering almost the entire nation.
The weather in recent weeks has been sporadic, changing from warm to wet to cold to windy, and we are due once again for another extreme turn in meteorological conditions.
According to the latest weather forecast from WX Charts a serious cold front is inbound for the UK from the second week of October, bringing high chances of snow across the entire UK.
The whole country is expected to see at least a sprinkling of snow with temperature set to plumet with the coldest weather coming at noon on 10 October.
The map shows coverage from Cornwall to Kirkwall with only a few patches spared from the frosty powdering millions could be waking up to in the coming weeks.
For the current week, weather is expected to be fair with warmer temperatures indicative of a formerly predicted 'Indian summer' proceeding a drop in the mercury.
This was echoed by the Met Office who said: "The latest forecast from the Met Office predicts a period of settled weather heading into this weekend before things turn unsettled again.
"Thursday is forecast to be "bright" with "some patchy cloud developing through the day which could develop into the odd isolated shower, mainly toward southeast England."
Last week, some of the UK was hit hard by flooding, notably in Bedfordshire, Berkshire and Hertfordshire with a section of the A421 dual-carriageway becoming completely submerged.
Between Friday and Sunday the weather will be "dry with plenty of sunny spells on Friday and feeling warm in light winds" before rain returns with stronger winds.
For the period where WXCharts have predicted snow, the Met Office said: "An Atlantic low pressure system will drift eastwards across the UK through the first part of next week.
"This will bring widely unsettled conditions, with showers or longer spells of rain, heavy and persistent at times, especially over hills."
Strong winds are possible too, with exposed and windward coastal areas prone to the strongest winds. The theme of low pressure will continue to dominate the weather for the rest of the week, with showers or longer spells of rain.
Well, it might just be time to crack out the big winter coat and brace for the arrival of winter.
