A woman has been arrested following a dog attack in Wales that resulted in the death of 10-year-old Jack Lis.

The 28-year-old, from Caerphilly, was questioned on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death, before being released on bail, police said on Wednesday.

Two men also volunteered to be spoken to by police in relation to the same offence and were also later released. They were a 34-year-old from Mountain Ash, Rhondda Cynon Taf, and a 19-year-old, from Caerphilly.

Police were called to an address in Pentwyn, Penyrhoel, at about 3.55pm on Monday, following reports of a dog attack.

The dog was destroyed at the scene and Lis was pronounced dead.

The dog, MailOnline reported Wednesday, was an American pitbull-type and was nicknamed ‘Beast’.

It said the 15-month-old dog was sold online less than two weeks ago after its previous owner feared it would attack other animals.

Lis’ mother, Emma Whitfeld, earlier released a heartbreaking Facebook post about her son’s death: “With so much heartbreak and before close friends and family see his name in the news, I have to announce our beautiful boy Jack was taken so tragically yesterday.

“It was not our dog nor did it happen at our family home. He was out to play. “We love you so much our sweet sweet boy.”
