Jack's mother has released a tribute to her 'sweet, sweet boy'

A 10-year-old boy who died after being attacked by a dog in Caerphilly, Wales, on Monday has been named for the first time. Police on Tuesday named the victim as Jack Lis. Police firearms officers destroyed the dog after being called to a house on Pentwyn, Penyrheol, at 3.55pm. Paramedics were also called to the scene but Jack was pronounced dead. In a heartbreaking Facebook post Jack's mother, Emma Whitfeld, wrote: "With so much heartbreak and before close friends and family see his name in the news, I have to announce our beautiful boy Jack was taken so tragically yesterday. "It was not our dog nor did it happen at our family home. He was out to play. "We love you so much our sweet sweet boy." Chief Superintendent Mark Hobrough said the "attack did not happen in the house owned by Jack's family, but inside another property on a nearby street". "My condolences and thoughts are with Jack's family, friends, school friends, and everyone affected by this within the community," he said in a statement. Hobrough said officers continue to make inquires and will remain at the scene. Neighbours described being alerted to "screaming" in the street, the BBC reported.
