Brits can now reserve pub garden seats using beach towels

You no longer have to travel to engage in towel wars

Brits staying in Blighty this summer have been given the opportunity to engage in the towel wars that have gripped the continent – by heading down to the local.

Videos from popular holiday destinations across Europe have emerged this summer of towels being ripped off sunbeds and removed from beaches.

A ‘Towel Movement’ has been even been launched on the Greek island of Paros after locals lost patience with the sandy scandal.

But many of those staying at home this summer have been left out of the time-honoured tradition.

New research commissioned by Premier Inn found more Brits now stay at home than holiday abroad, with Cornwall, the Lake District and Devon coming out as the top spots.

And those who find themselves in sunny Northamptonshire will be pleased to hear that they can now reserve seats in a beer garden so they can enjoy what little sun we’ve had this year.

Visitors to Spinney Hill can skip the afternoon crowds by bagging their beer garden spot before the masses descend. In true British holiday style, all they need to do is drape a towel over the pub garden chair of their choice, ensuring they have a comfortable spot to enjoy a drink in the sunshine.

Josh Teasdale, General Manager at Spinney Hill, said “Unfortunately, not everyone can afford a holiday abroad this year, so here at Spinney Hill we wanted to bring that holiday feel to our locals.

“Even when we’re on holiday, pubs are a big part of the experience, so it was important to the team that we have something special here at Spinney Hill. We know how busy the beer garden gets, especially during a heatwave, so we wanted to give customers a fun way to reserve their favourite.”
