A boy has reportedly died after being crushed by a lift at a school for the disabled.
Emergency services rushed to St Lucy’s School in Wahroonga, Sydney at 2pm on Wednesday, after reports the 10-year-old had been seriously injured.
Officers from the Ku-ring-gai Police Area found the boy trapped under the machine.
Fire and Rescue NSW attempted to remove the boy, however, he died at the scene, ABC News reported.
The boy is understood to have used a wheelchair, the Daily Telegraph reports.
In a statement, the school said it would be closed to students until further notice.
"St Lucy's is very sad to confirm the tragic death of one of our students this afternoon. "We ask for privacy and space for our staff and families to grieve at this difficult time as we remember our beautiful student."
St Lucy's School caters for primary and high school students with autism, sensory impairments and mild to severe intellectual disabilities.
