Amanda Staveley is 'ready to invest middle eastern funds' in a huge Premier League club before the end of the year.
Staveley has been a key figure in the Premier League in recent years, helping broker a deal between the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Newcastle United.
This deal helped transform fortunes for the Magpies and endeared her to the fans at St James Park.
However, only this year Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi reduced their shares at Newcastle and left the club's board.
Despite this, it has now been revealed that Staveley is interested in taking her funds elsewhere in the Premier League with it reported by the Mirror that Staveley and Ghodoussi are interested in buying up shares in Tottenham Hotspur.
This comes as current part-owner Joe Lewis is decreasing his influence at the club as well as looking to offload some of his shares.
Staveley is looking to buy up a chunk of these shares, however will, as with Newcastle, look to the Middle East for funding.
Staveley was vital in brokering a deal between the PIF and Mike Ashley, Newcastle's previous owner.
Reported by the Mirror, a source close to Staveley said: “Amanda is serious about being involved with Spurs, and is hoping that an initial purchase can be completed within weeks.”
This certainly is big news for Spurs who could see new investment which could be just what the club need to cross the threshold into real title contenders.
Staveley confirmed earlier this summer that she was open to looking to invest in another Premier League team, however, expressed her disappointment over leaving Newcastle.
She told The Athletic: “My preference would have been to stay with Newcastle, but life doesn’t always work out exactly how you want it to. Nothing is going to replicate that."
